SLCA-CTP Announces Capital Campaign to Raise Funds for Improvements to Performing Space
You may have heard the preliminary talk, and now it is official! Sand Lake Center for the Arts is conducting a
Capital Campaign to raise $90,000 to upgrade the multi-use, multi-used, Fuess Performing Space. We will
build a permanent stage with handicap accessibility, improve the general lighting, and install a new floor.
What excitement!! These upgrades will perk up the stage and audience space which offers theater, concerts,
annual arts fair, children’s ballet, summer classes for youth and our many special events. Our volunteers will
appreciate a space which will be easier to work in, while our patrons will appreciate the overall improved
appearance and effectiveness. We anticipate increased rentals and other activities, adding to our fine schedule
with home schooled, public, and private school programs, Tech Valley and The Arc. With the continued
preservation, enhancement and development of our historically significant building and landmark for the
Town of Sand Lake, we see increased opportunity for economic development and tourism through the Center’s
contribution as a great cultural and recreational resource. We encourage you to join in our enthusiasm
and spread the word!! The Center is a great asset to our community, an asset worth financial investment and
support. For a very reasonable cost, we will experience substantial advancement.
Financial goal for construction: $90,000
Raised as of 9/12/12: $71,571
Funds for architectural services: $4850 from Hudson River Valley Greenway being matched by SLCA
Timeline for raising money: April, 2011 through April, 2013 (or less depending on progress)
Timeframe for construction: Summer 2013

The Sand Lake Kiwanis recently presented Debra Roy, Executive Director, with a check as part of their support for the Capital Campaign that is underway. An architect, working with the Board of Directors of SLCA, has begun planning the needed changes to the stage, floor and lighting in the performance space. One third of the $90,000 necessary to complete the project during 2013 has been raised. Ms. Roy states, "The generous support from local businesses, organizations and individuals in the community is validation that what we do here is important and valued.”

ANNUAL FUND DRIVE
We are most appreciative for each and every supporter of the Center as we continue to bring you diversified quality programming at a reasonable cost.
We have been consistently conservative in our spending and make a concerted effort to raise sufficient funds to fully support our programming and operations obligations. This year, however, New York State has cut its funding for the arts by approximately 17% for 2011. As this support from the State represents about 12% of our budget, we also have to make up for this shortfall.
We are asking that you donate as generously as possible to our annual fund raising drive so that we can continue the quality and breadth of our offerings. Your generosity helps support these varied and enriching programs…
- Circle Theatre Players - Celebrating their 30th anniversary of award winning live theater.
- Original Play Festival - A unique opportunity for playwrights to see their play in a live theatrical setting.
- Squire Jacob Coffeehouse - Offers live acoustic music ranging from folk, to jazz, to bluegrass.
- Sundays at the Center - The first Sunday of each month, offers family friendly opportunities to experience classes, workshops and performances.
- Holiday Art Fair - Every Fall showcases the work of over 20 regional artists. A unique opportunity to peruse & purchase original works of pottery, sculpture, paintings, photography, jewelry, felt & more.
- Summer Youth Programs - Fun and enriching opportunities for our community's youth.
- A Taste of Sand Lake - The most talked about event in the County. Encompasses fare from local restaurants, silent auction, listening to local musicians and mingle with friends.
- Workshops - That nurture creative and artistic skills.
- Dance classes - Offered to ages 3 to 18 years.
- Art Gallery - Filled with light, showcases regional artists eight times a year.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your community family. We love what we do and we hope that you appreciate our programs as much as we enjoy providing them. We thank you for assisting us to achieve our mission: "to enrich community life through discovering, appreciating and creating excellence in theatre, the performing arts and the visual arts".
Any size donation counts; any size donation is your expression of support for the arts in our community; and any size donation will be greatly appreciated!
