Fundamentals of Photography
Sunday, October 5, 2008, 1:30 PM
Free |
|
Improve your photography with Sam Ciraulo, the SLCA Gallery artist for the month of October. Sam will focus on the fundamentals of light, texture, composition, and timing. Bring a digital camera, if possible, as students will have an opportunity to take photographs after the lecture and share them with the class.
In addition to his work as a photographer, Sam Ciraulo is a registered architect, employed by New York State. He holds a Master of Architecture degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor of Arts degree from State University of New York College at Plattsburg. A selection of Sam's photographs will be on view in the SLCA gallery during this workshop as well as during the full month of October. Visit his website at www.sciraulophotography.com.

Still Life with Pencil
Sunday, December 7, 2008, 1:30 PM

"Light For The Artist": A workshop based on direct observation of the behavior of light, using only pencil and paper to convey your vision. If you understand what you see, and know how to look, you can work out how to get that image down on paper. Once you master this simple skill it can be easily transferred to the painting of figures and landscapes. Beginners are welcome--you will surprise and delight yourself!!
Constance Alexander has received many awards in Albany Group Shows as well as being juried into The Hudson Mohawk Regional, The Pruyn House Show, and The Hagaman Exhibit. She is currently the resident artist at Historic Eastfield Village for her series of pastels of 18th century life. Many of her paintings are in private collections and the Troy County Courthouse. Her prints are available at "Everybody's Cafe" in East Greenbush. You may visit her at Golden Pond Studio in East Greenbush, NY, 528-286-3779., or e-mail her at c.j.alex@mindspring.com. View her artwork during this workshop. Her SLCA gallery show will be hanging from November 16th until December 31st.
